How to claim your business listing on Shops in Kenya (free)

29 October 2026 · 4 min read

There's a good chance your business is already on Shops in Kenya — we've mapped 29,000+ Kenyan businesses from public data. An unclaimed listing shows your name and location, but no phone number, no products, no way for a customer to reach you. Claiming it is free and takes minutes.

Find your listing

Search your business name at shops.co.ke/businesses, or browse your county and town. If it's there, open the listing — you'll see an 'Unclaimed listing' badge.

Claim it — two ways

  • WhatsApp claim (instant): if the listing has a phone number from public records, we send a one-time code to it. Enter the code, you're approved immediately.
  • Document claim (review): no number on file? Submit a document — business permit, utility bill, or registration certificate — and our team reviews it, usually within a day.

What unlocks when you claim

  • Your phone and WhatsApp go live on the listing — customers can finally reach you.
  • Add products, services, prices and photos — the listing becomes a real storefront.
  • M-PESA Till/PayBill instructions so customers can pay you directly.
  • A verified badge once approved — the trust signal that separates you from every unclaimed competitor in your town.
  • Your shop gets picked into 'best of' rankings for your county and category.

Keep it complete

After claiming, fill in opening hours, a description and at least a few products or services. Our data shows that listings with complete details rank higher in directory results and convert far more visitors into customers — a half-filled listing is only marginally better than an unclaimed one.

It stays free forever. Claiming doesn't start a subscription — it makes your business reachable. Paid plans exist for when you want online payments, bigger catalogues and staff accounts, but the listing itself costs nothing.
