Direct answer: use delivery zones. On Shops in Kenya you define where you deliver — counties, towns or custom areas — each with its own fee and option (rider, matatu, courier, pickup). At checkout the customer picks their county, sees the fee upfront, and their location is captured in the order automatically. You never ask 'uko wapi?' again.
Why it matters
'Do you deliver to Nakuru?' is the second-most common seller DM after 'how much'. If your shop can't answer it, every order needs a human — you — awake. County pickers turn delivery from a conversation into a checkout step.
Setting it up
- 1. Open your shop's delivery settings and add zones — e.g. 'Nairobi CBD — same-day rider, KSh 150', 'Kiambu — next-day, KSh 250', 'Rest of Kenya — matatu/courier, KSh 350-500'.
- 2. Add a pickup option if you have a physical spot — free for the customer, saves you a trip.
- 3. Each zone can have its own fee and instructions — 'pay rider on delivery', 'parcel via Wells Fargo, collect at town office'.
- 4. At checkout the customer selects their county/town — the fee adds to their total and lands in your order message.
Pricing delivery honestly
- Nairobi intra-city: KSh 100-300 depending on distance (boda/rider rates).
- Major towns (Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret): courier 250-500.
- Upcountry parcels: matatu parcel services are cheapest; pass the real cost.
- Tip: 'free delivery over KSh 3,000' lifts basket size more than it costs you.
