Tired of replying 'how much' on WhatsApp? Here's the fix

3 November 2026 · 5 min read

Direct answer: replace the back-and-forth with a catalog link. Upload your items once with prices and photos, put the link in your WhatsApp status and bio, and customers browse, pick their county and place the order — it lands in your WhatsApp as one clean message instead of twenty 'how much' pings.

Why the 'how much' loop happens

Your status shows a photo with no price, so every interested buyer has to DM you. Multiply that by 20 viewers and you're a part-time call centre. The fix isn't replying faster — it's removing the reason they had to ask: no visible prices, no way to order.

The 3-step fix

  • 1. Make a catalog with prices — on Shops in Kenya, create a free shop and add your items: name, price in KSh, a photo, sizes/colours if clothes. That's your catalog link (shops.co.ke/your-shop).
  • 2. Post the link, not just the photo — your status becomes 'New drops — order here: shops.co.ke/your-shop'. Bio too, and pin it in chats.
  • 3. Take the order, not the interrogation — customers pick items, sizes and their delivery county, then tap 'Order via WhatsApp'. You get one structured message: items, total, county, name. You reply once to confirm.

What about 'send photos' requests?

Same fix. Every product in your catalog has its own photos and its own link — when someone wants to see more angles, send the product link, not 8 screenshots. On Shops in Kenya each product page carries a gallery, so one link answers the photo question permanently.

Doesn't the free WhatsApp catalog do this already?

Partly — the built-in WhatsApp Business catalog shows photos and prices inside the app. But it can't take an order to checkout (no delivery county picker, no order record, no M-PESA), it doesn't show on Google, and customers can't share a specific item link. Most sellers use it alongside a real catalog link: WhatsApp catalog for regulars, shop link for orders and new customers.

Keeping it cheap

The free plan on Shops in Kenya is genuinely free: 30 products, WhatsApp ordering, manual payment instructions (your Till or PayBill shown at checkout). When you're ready, paid plans add automatic M-PESA STK push and card payments. [Create your catalog shop free](/signup) — it takes about 10 minutes on your phone.
